HARTFORD'S
COMMUNITY
FOOD HUB

ABOUT US

Mercado Popular is a community food hub focused on bringing fresh, healthy food to the downtown Hartford area, educating people about growing, purchasing, and cooking healthy food, and supporting farmers who are people of color. Mercado is built by the Hartford community and for the Hartford community.

Mercado Popular believes in supporting people in making the right nutrition choices for themselves. We offer two ways to enjoy fresh, healthy food from local farms.

SHOPPING AT MERCADO

We’re putting an end to the days of buying a pre-packaged meal from the convenience store. At Mercado Popular you can find a variety of high-quality seasonal produce available for purchase no matter when you wander through our doors.

Mercado specializes in fresh, local food and healthy products. We also stock pantry items, dairy, meat, and eggs, so you can do all your shopping at Mercado and know you have healthy, nourishing meals all week long.

Mercado features a cafe where community members can gather for a meal, a conversation, or one of our many classes. Mercado also has space available for rent for private or community events.

CSA SHARE

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a great way to get a variety of healthy food each week while supporting local farms. For our CSA program, enrolled farmers deliver their produce, and our staff lovingly packs a box for each CSA member. No week will ever be the same, and you’ll likely get foods you’ve never tried before. We offer standard and vegetarian CSA packages. Due to the variable nature of the growing season, it’s important to realize that your selections may vary.

Here’s an overview of what to expect each season:
